My Favorite Drug Store Foundation Makeup!

I have tried so many different types of foundation over the years, including expensive department store brands. Honestly, I didn’t find that the expensive brands were necessarily better than what I found at the drug or grocery store so I want to share some of my favorite drug store foundation products.

As I have aged, my skin tone has changed and I need to hide the sun damage that has caught up with me. My generation grew up laying out in the sun, tanning for hours with baby oil and iodine, and I was no exception! As predicted by my parents, it’s now catching up with me. I also have a pink complexion (with a nice hint of rosacea for an added bonus) so I need to select foundation tones that work with my personal rosy coloring.

The great thing about less expensive makeup is that you can experiment with various shades without spending a ton of money and feeling guilty about it if it doesn’t work out. I have also found the lighting in department stores or cosmetic retail shops is very different than the lighting in a home so that can change the appearance drastically. One day I went out and thought I looked pretty good until I saw my reflection in a mirror in a fluorescent lit room and it looked like a rookie mortician had worked on my face! I quickly stopped using that shade of makeup and experimented with some other foundation brands and colors until I found ones that blend better with my complexion and look good in various lighting.

Popular drugstore cosmetic brands include Maybelline, L'Oréal, Neutrogena, Revlon, Covergirl, NYX, Wet n Wild, Milani, e.l.f, and many more. Each brand has its strengths, so choosing one depends on factors like your skin type, preferred finish, and shade range.

Drugstore makeup offers several benefits, including affordability, availability, and variety. These products are often more budget-friendly than high-end counterparts, making them accessible to a broader audience. Drugstore brands are widely available in local stores and online, making it convenient for consumers to purchase them. Additionally, these brands frequently introduce a wide range of products, providing diverse options in terms of shades, formulas, and finishes. Overall, drugstore makeup can be a cost-effective way to experiment with different looks and find products that suit your preferences.

Here are a few of my favorite foundations:

L'Oréal Infallible 24 Hour Fresh Wear foundation is known for several benefits:

1. Long-Wearing: The "Infallible" line is designed to be long-lasting, providing extended wear without the need for frequent touch-ups.

2. Coverage: It typically offers good coverage, helping to conceal imperfections and create a smooth complexion. It offers more coverage than some of the other brands.

3. Variety of Finishes: L'Oréal Infallible foundation often comes in different finishes, such as matte or dewy, allowing users to choose based on their preferred look. I prefer the 24 hour fresh wear as opposed to the pro-glow foundation.

4. Diverse Shade Range: The brand usually provides a broad range of 40 shades, catering to various skin tones and undertones.

5. SPF Protection: Formulations include SPF, providing sun protection and helping to prevent sun damage.

6. Affordability: Compared to high-end brands, L'Oréal Infallible is more budget-friendly, offering quality at a reasonable price.

Average price: $14-$16

L'Oréal True Match Super Blendable foundation is praised for several benefits:

1. Wide Shade Range: True Match is known for its extensive 47 true-to-skin shade range, making it easier for users to find a color that closely matches their skin tone.

2. Blendable Formula: The foundation is designed to have a blendable and buildable formula, providing customizable coverage to suit individual preferences.

3. Versatility: It caters to various skin types, offering options for dry, oily, and combination skin. It’s also suitable for sensitive skin.

4. Natural Finish: Many users appreciate the natural finish it provides, giving a balanced and seamless look to the skin.

5. Accessibility: Being a drugstore brand, True Match is widely accessible and affordable, making quality foundation available to a broad audience.

Average price: $10-$14

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup is known for several benefits:

1. Blendable Formula: The foundation has a blendable and lightweight formula, making it easy to apply and achieve a natural look.

2. SPF Protection: This formulation includes SPF, providing sun protection and helping to prevent sun damage.

3. Shade Range: The Healthy Skin Liquid foundation offers 14 shades.

4. Sheer to Medium Coverage: Offers a sheer to medium coverage, allowing for a more natural and breathable finish.

5. Drugstore Accessibility: Being a Neutrogena product, it's widely available in drugstores, offering an affordable option with good quality.

Average price: $13-$15

Remember, individual experiences may vary, and it's always a good idea to consider your specific skin type and preferences when choosing any foundation.

The Silver Lining: Drug store make up is not only affordable and accessible but the brands offer high quality products with a wide variety of shade and finish options for any complexion and skin tone.
